Welcome to the Nürnberg Military Area Log.

Please leave a comment and let us know you were here.

Well I had to come up with some new type of Guestbook. The old one was outdated and attracted a lot of spam. Almost impossible to keep them out. At times we would get 50 a day.  With this new one, the first entry has to be approved by admin. After that the entries are entered automaticly.  The old guestbooks are listed in the links section to the right of each kaserne page under Old Guestbook.  Hope this one works better.

Served on Darby from 72 – 74 with the 793d MP Bn. Public Affairs Office. worked with Thom Harris, Mike Ryan, Steve Carson and Dave Evans. Thom always wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail. Steve was the commander’s driver. Mike and Dave were 95Bs. My wife at the time worked at the Bavarian American Hotel and then at the PX.

I was stationed with Co A 793rd MP Bn from 1974 until 1976. I had previously been stationed with Co B 1/6 Inf in Illesheim. I came to Nurnberg as a brand new MP (95B). They were interesting times! I had a great time. I ended up spending 20 years in the Army but nothing compared to those times in Nurnberg. I have such good memories. Fortunately, I do not recall the not so good times….if there were any….I am confident there were. I have such great memories of so many of my fellow MPs….

87th dental det 74-75 they kicked the officers out of the BOQ to make room for us First female to join for just TWO years when the draft ended. Very transitional time for the army. They didn’t quite know how to handle us. Great memories

Hi, my name is Debbie Terry, husband Neil Terry, daughter Melissa Terry. We lived in Fuerth, Germany from 1973-1974, Neil was stationed in the Army, working out of Merrill Barracks, from Winter/1972 thru Summer/1974. Neil was stationed at Merrill Barracks and was a cook. I would love to see pics and anyone that remembers us. I saw a note above about the food and ‘THE WALL’………..funny memories. I was one of the few wives that lived in Germany with their husband off base at that time and rented from some German landlords in Fuerth. Thanks to good old Nixon the dollar wasn’t worth as much in Germany at that time and each time Nixon lied, our rent went up………ahhhhh the good old times. I remember being so young and naive, my husband and his buddies drove me by ‘THE WALL’ and I was shocked. That is so funny now. You all have a good day.

While looking for info on the fifth golden sumernights concert held in nurnberg on may 9 1982 I came across this site and enjoyed it greatly, as I was stationed in Pigtown USA. aka Schweinfurt. from Jan 1982 until MAY 1983. I was a medic in the 2/61st mechanized infantry at at that time and spent a lot of time at the Nurnberg military hospital as a patient getting physical therapy after a crash in a 113 as well as transporting other patients in a very well converted deuce and a half that we used as an evac vehicle. I have many fond memories of Nurnberg and the whole area yet I haven’t been able to find a website such as this one on Schweinfurt incl. Ledward or kahn barracks any info or help would be greatly appreciated. It’s amazing how fast time flies, and how often I still think of Germany in those days again thanks to everyone who has served! God bless the USA

      Hey Mike,
My husband and I were there about the same time you were. He served out of Merrill Barracks but we had an apartment in Fuerth. He was a cook and we were there from winter of 72 through summer of 74. You mentioned ‘the wall’…….that’s so funny in hindsight as I remember my husband and his buddies driving me by ‘the wall’, as I had never seen anything like that. needless to say being young and naive I was shocked. So funny now. Hmmmmmmm, wonder what my husband did at the wall before I arrived in Germany a couple months later. Just kidding…………Ahhhh, memories

The Nuernberg area was the best place in Germany for a duty station in the army. Had a great time there. Would love to go back for a visit sometimes. The guesthouses and pubs served the best Barackwurs and brochen. There’s nothing like Nuernberg Barackwurs. I’ve eaten Barackwurs just about everywhere in Germany. Nuernberg’s are the best.
