FAAF 1987-1991. Great place to grow up! Facebook has a Redcatcher page where old Cav guys can meet and greet. Many great pictures and a way to bring it all back. http://www.vrtulnik.cz/mil/redcatchers.htm is a Czech website containing some great pics as well. Czech it out!

I was stationed at Feucht AAF from 1980 to 1983 with the 2nd Air Cav as an avionics technician. Lived at Merrell barracks(Sud Kaserne). If only I could be 19 again living the good life in Nurenburg. Nothing like dangleing your legs out over the skid tubes at 12,000 feet. I remember flying C&C missions with Col Maddox(Call sign Silver Fox).He threatened to throw me out at altitude if I didn’t get his secure radio working within 5 minutes.Best times of my life. Going back to Nurenburg soon, hope the hefe wietzen is still the best beer of choice for a stroll along the dutzendietch.Tojour Pret, Red Catcher 62 in Washington,D.C.

Hey, it’s nice to have this website available. I’m looking for a Cobra pilot, which flew out of Feucht back around 1980-83, maybe even longer (I know, he showed up in either 1984 or 85 at my Mom’s, asking for me). His name is Gary, he had two little sons at the time, about 3 and 4, he was also going through a divorce.
On weekends, he often worked at the country club “Ponterosa” as a Bouncer and if you ever saw him, you wound know why and would never forget him, he is about 6’5″ with extremely wide shoulders (amazing, that he fit into a Cobra)! He has light colored eyes and skin and very short, very blond hair.
I live since 1983 in Wisconsin and would luv to know, what became of him and his family.
You can contact me on “Facebook” under Beate Mc Cabe.
    Thanks and God bless.

That would be 1st Lt. Gary Barber. I once was a knuckle dragging grease monkey mechanic in his flight platoon (that is when I wasn’t painting latrines or `rasslin tires off the back of a duece and a half) and more than once got to go flying with him and for such a big dude he was a pretty good stick. Don’t know what he’s doing now, but that’s the name you’re looking for. Hope it helps

I was with 4th Sqn HHT from 87-89, good times, and as luck would have it, I am still here!! Yep work in the old hanger for a German company, man have things changed, and for the first time that I can think of, I am the only one out here with a Stetson!!

    Always Ready Sir!!

Does anybody else remember in 1986 the Helicopter that accidentally flew across the Check. border and was chased down by Migs and shot up. I still remember the bullett holes all along the side of it.

Didn’t happen! Funny how all these people remember soemthing that never occured!

So glad to see this website! My husband Cpt Paul D. Keller commanded the Air Troop-2nd Armd Cav Regt from May 1969 to June 1970.

  7. Larry McKenna says:

Hello. I was stationed at Merrell Barracks as an Air Troop, 2nd ACR from May 68-Dec 69 and worked in Tech Supply at Feucht Army Airfield.

    • Wendy Keller says:

Hi Larry–My husband Cpt. Paul Keller commanded the Air Troop at that time (exactly)! He passed away in 2005. Did you know him? I will never forget Germany!

P.S. do you remember when the British visited for two weeks? What an awesome time!

      • Phil Rhode says:

        Hi,
I remember your husband and the exercise with the British. I was the control tower operator at Feucht from March 1968 to June 1970. When I wasn’t in the tower I flew, unofficially, as an observer in OH-13s and Birddogs since the rules said there had to be 2 sets of eyes in the cockpit during flights along most of the border. I remember when Capt. Keller rolled a Huey into a ball when weather lowered and a blade hit the ground while he was trying to turn around. Nobody hurt but Cpt. Keller was really upset his watch got busted. When I see old episodes of M.A.S.H. with Lt. Col. Blake I often think back to Cpt. Keller at Feucht. Sorry to hear he passed as that means I am getting older.

  8. Cathy (Potter) says:

I worked in the ATC tower from 75-78. Was married to Buck Potter (now deceased – 2nd ACR) for most of that time. You may remember me as the girl who wore tennis shoes with my uniforms…

Looking to connect with Duke Baxter, Bob Skinner

  9. Greg Richardson says:

I was at Feucht AAF, 76 to 79. I worked in the armament shop for Doc Clayton. What an awesome time.

  10. Gary Benedict says:

I worked a lot on the airfield from 1983-1987 as an ambulance driver attached to the German firefighters at Feucht AAF. It was an assignment that we did from HHT 2nd ACR at Merrell barracks. Does anybody else remember in 1986 the Helicopter that accidentally flew across the Check. border and was chased down by Migs and shot up. I still remember the bullett holes all along the side of it.

Well I had to come up with some new type of Guestbook. The old one was outdated and attracted a lot of spam. Almost imposible to keep them out. At times we would get 50 a day.

With this new one, the first entry has to be approved my admin. After that the entries are entered automaticly.

The old guestbooks are listed in the links section to the right of each kaserne page under Old Guestbook.

    Hope this one works better.
